Don’t just glow inside, glow outside too! All round beauty thanks to one natural product.
Extra virgin olive oil not only has a role as a health-giving addition to foods because it:
- Is rich in healthy monounsaturated fats
- Contains large amounts of antioxidants
- Has strong anti-inflammatory properties
- Is protective against heart disease
Often used as the base oil for dressings including Allioli, lemon or balsamic vinegar… there is no end to its versatility as a food.
Have you tried using it as a beauty aid? Lustrous hair, skin and nails can be achieved by including some simple processes, using extra virgin olive oil in our weekly/monthly beauty routines.
A healthy scalp is just as important for hair growth as healthy hair. Olive oil is an excellent source of pharmacological activities that promote scalp health.
- Warm a little oil in a bowl
- Dab cotton balls (dipped in warm oil) onto scalp by making partings at cross sections
- Massage gently
- Wrap warm towel around head for 15 – 20 minutes
- Massage again
- Wash hair with a gentle/ child shampoo.
Massaging the oil into your scalp will also improve blood flow throughout the area, so hair follicles are stimulated too.
Autumn is coming and our hand beauty regime needs overhauling. Nails in particular need attention after the summer holidays. Finger and toe varnish, as well as all the suntan lotions and creams containing lanolin, can have a negative effect on nail and hand health.
There are several over-the-counter remedies to strengthen and moisturise nails, however, olive oil, applied daily, can give the same results. Olive oil penetrates the skin and nail, to help repair damage and soften nails and cuticles, leading to nail strength and health as well as beauty.
Christmas is just around the corner! Get glowing with extra virgin olive oil… this is your autumn beauty regime!
