Food Intolerance Test

What food intolerance means?

Triggered by small molecular weight, chemical substances or biologically active components of foods food intolerance is classified as an adverse reaction to food which results in clinical symptoms but it is not caused by an immune system reaction. The physiological mechanisms responsible for the food intolerance reaction are multiple and complex. It may be caused by a metabolic dysfunction such as lactase deficiency causing lactose intolerance, or pharmacological responses such as a histamine and tyramine in food response.

Some symptoms associated with food intolerance.

Excessive gas, abdominal pain and bloating, diarrhoea and loose stools are normally associated with carbohydrate intolerance, while migraines, hives and itching are highly associated with histamine and tyramine intolerance. The higher the dose of the intolerance trigger, the more severe are the symptoms.

Food Intolerance Test in Edinburgh?

It is crucial to make the right choice when you are investigating food intolerances. In our Edinburgh practice we perform a food intolerance test for the detection of IgGs to each food in relation to the target response derived from the microplate-based assay. Thanks to the latest bio-markers this immunological test claims 100% sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. Besides, the reproducibility of this test is 100% when compared to the ELISA test.

How does it work?

Come along to our practice in Edinburgh. We will need 10 minutes of your time to collect the sample by a fingertip blood prick and in less than 48 hours we will give you a detailed report of the test with specific conclusions and advice to follow.
