Energy balls, a global solution for an afternoon slump!

Do you feel tired and sluggish after your lunch break? Do you find yourself reaching for coffee and chocolate to get you through the day? We’ve got a better solution … it’s called Energy Balls!

Easy to make and full of nutrients, these little beauties look good and taste even better.

The star ingredient is dates, well-known for their anticancer properties. Sugar-free and packed with nuts, seeds and dried fruits, Energy Balls perk you up with their concentrated dose of minerals, vitamins, phenolic compounds and essential fats.

ENERGY BALLS (10-15 pieces)

1 cup pitted dates

¾ cup hulled pistachios

½ cup dried cranberries

2 tbsp. coconut flakes + extra for coating

Soak the dates in hot water for about 15 minutes. Rinse and whizz in a high-speed blender with the pistachios, cranberries and coconut flakes until they form a dough-like consistency. Shape the mixture into small balls and roll in the remaining coconut flakes. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

If pistachios and cranberries don’t appeal, swap them for peanuts and cacao nibs. What if you don’t like coconut? Substitute with ground almonds!

Matcha tea or crushed dried raspberries give your energy balls a fancy coating, while some almond butter combined with cocoa powder in the dough will satisfy your craving for brownies. There are no limits to your creativity when it comes to these small superheroes.
