Cholesterol Test and Heart Health
A cholesterol test is essential when assessing your risk of cardiovascular disease. High levels of bad cholesterol, for instance, will increase your blood’s resistance and this will negatively impact on your heart health, causing heart problems.
Increased low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), also known as bad cholesterol, is recognised as a direct cause of atherosclerotic condition and it is a major clinical sequela.
Cardiovascular disease is a worldwide leading cause of mortality and morbidity, reducing your quality of life and it is associated with a significant clinical and economic burden.
The British Heart Foundation estimated that more than 50% of adults in the UK are living with a raised level of total cholesterol. More than 160,000 deaths each year in the UK, accounting for 27% of all deaths and equivalent to one death every three minutes are caused by cardiovascular disease.
